Description
Perennial ryegrass is a cool-season grass that establishes quickly and provides a durable, fine-textured lawn.
Product features
• Exceptionally fast germination, often visible in 5–7 days
• Durable and wear-tolerant, suitable for lawns with children or pets
• Fine to medium texture with a rich green color
• Commonly used for overseeding warm-season lawns in winter
• Provides quick cover for erosion control on slopes
• Compatible with other cool-season grasses in seed mixtures
• Establishes a dense turf that resists weed invasion
Sowing: Sow in early spring or early fall. Sow ⅛–¼ inch deep. Broadcast at 5–8 lbs per 1,000 sq ft for new lawns, 2–4 lbs for overseeding. Full sun to partial shade.
Soil & Temperature: Prefers well-draining, fertile loam (pH 6.0–7.0). Germination temperature 60–70°F (15–21°C).
Germination Time: 5–10 days.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (light, frequent watering). Once established, water deeply and infrequently (about 1 inch per week).
Additional Tips: Perennial ryegrass does not spread; it is a bunch-type grass. Use mixtures with Kentucky bluegrass for a self-repairing lawn. Mow at 2–3 inches height. Reseed every few years in high-traffic areas.
