Lavender Seeds

Sowing: Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost, or direct sow after danger of frost. Surface sow (seeds need light to germinate); do not cover with soil. Space plants 12–18 inches apart. Full sun required.
Soil & Temperature: Requires well-draining, sandy or gritty soil (pH 6.5–7.5). Avoid heavy clay or wet soil. Germination benefits from cold stratification (refrigerate seeds for 3–4 weeks before sowing). Germination temperature 65–75°F (18–24°C).
Germination Time: 14–28 days, sometimes longer.
Watering: Keep soil lightly moist until germination. Once seedlings are established, water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering is a common cause of failure.
Additional Tips: Lavender is slow growing from seed. Provide good air circulation to prevent fungal issues. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape.
