About this seed

Why gardeners choose this variety

Small scallions are part of the everyday food culture of East Asia, where fresh green onion can finish a dish as effectively as a more elaborate seasoning. Growing a small patch brings that kitchen habit within easy reach.

Hollow upright leaves create a clean vertical texture in a raised bed, a vegetable-border edge or a deep patio pot. Cut suitable leafy growth for soups, noodles, egg dishes and stir-fries, or harvest young plants when a recipe calls for the whole scallion. Small successive plantings can help keep a useful supply through the suitable season.

At first I was a bit worried because the outer package was labeled "grass seed," and I thought my order was mixed up. Turns out the green onion seeds were inside and everything was fine. They germinated well and are growing nicely. Just a minor packaging issue, but the seeds themselves are good quality.
