About this seed
Why gardeners choose this variety
Few foliage plants make a stronger visual impression than Monstera. Broad leaves develop the divisions and openings that give mature plants their distinctive outline, while climbing stems add height and movement. Watching the foliage change as a seedling grows is part of its appeal.
Origins and character
Native from Mexico to Panama, Monstera deliciosa grows in tropical forests, using trees for support as it climbs. The familiar name “Swiss cheese plant” refers to the openings in its leaves, linking its memorable nickname directly to its natural form.
In your home or garden
Give it a place near a bright window with filtered light and room for its leaves to spread. A climbing support turns it into a vertical focal point for a living room, conservatory or indoor tropical collection.
