Description
Dwarf strawberry is a compact, day-neutral strawberry variety suitable for containers and small spaces. It produces small, sweet fruits.
Product features
• Compact size (6–8 inches tall), ideal for containers, hanging baskets, and small gardens
• Day-neutral flowering, producing fruit continuously from late spring to frost (not just in spring)
• Small, sweet berries with good flavor, often smaller than garden strawberries
• Suitable for indoor growing on sunny windowsills
• Produces runners (baby plants) that can be rooted for propagation
• Attractive white flowers followed by red fruit
• Perennial in mild climates (USDA zones 5–9), often grown as annual in cold regions
Sowing: Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Surface sow on moist seed-starting mix (needs light); do not cover. Transplant outdoors after frost risk passes. Space plants 8–12 inches apart. Full sun (6+ hours).
Soil & Temperature: Prefers well-draining, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Use rich soil with compost. Germination temperature 60–70°F (15–21°C).
Germination Time: 14–28 days (slow and variable).
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist (not soggy) throughout germination and growing season. Dwarf strawberries are sensitive to both drought and overwatering.
Additional Tips: Be patient with germination; strawberry seeds can be slow. Provide good air circulation to prevent mildew. Remove first few flowers to encourage stronger plants. Replace plants every 2–3 years for best fruiting.
