Description
Dwarf cherry tomato is a compact tomato variety that produces small, sweet fruits. It is ideal for containers and small spaces.
Product features
• Compact, bushy plants (often 12–24 inches tall) that do not require staking
• Small, sweet cherry tomatoes (about 1 inch) produced in clusters
• Determinate habit (bush type); fruits ripen over a concentrated period
• Suitable for containers, hanging baskets, patios, and small gardens
• Fruits are sweet with high sugar content, often eaten fresh as snacks
• Many varieties available including red, yellow, and orange fruit
• Fast maturing, often 55–65 days from transplant
Sowing: Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow ¼ inch deep. Transplant after frost risk passes. Space plants 12–18 inches apart (closer than standard tomatoes). Full sun required (6+ hours).
Soil & Temperature: Prefers well-draining, fertile loam (pH 6.2–6.8). Use potting mix for containers. Germination temperature 70–80°F (21–27°C).
Germination Time: 5–10 days.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist (not soggy) throughout growth. Water at base to avoid wetting foliage. Inconsistent watering may cause blossom end rot or cracked fruits.
Additional Tips: Provide support even for determinate types (small cage or stake). Mulch to retain moisture. Fertilize lightly when first flowers appear. Remove lower leaves to improve air circulation. Harvest when fruits are fully colored and slightly soft.
