Product features
• Ruffled, fringed petals with a clove-like, spicy fragrance
• Long-lasting as a cut flower, often staying fresh for 7–10 days in a vase
• Perennial in mild climates (USDA zones 6–9), often grown as annual elsewhere
• Compact growth habit, suitable for borders, containers, and rock gardens
• Available in many colors including bicolors
• Blooms in late spring and early summer, with possible repeat bloom
• Tolerates light frost
Sowing: Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost, or direct sow after frost. Sow seeds ⅛ inch deep. Space plants 12 inches apart. Full sun to partial afternoon shade.
Soil & Temperature: Requires well-draining, slightly alkaline soil (pH 6.7–7.5). Enrich with compost but avoid heavy nitrogen. Germination temperature 65–70°F (18–21°C).
Germination Time: 10–15 days.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination and early growth. Once established, water moderately, allowing soil surface to dry between waterings. Avoid wetting foliage to prevent fungal diseases.
Additional Tips: Pinch back young plants to encourage bushy growth. Deadhead spent flowers to promote reblooming. In cold winter areas, apply mulch for protection.
