Description

Bird's eye chili is a small, hot pepper variety used in many cuisines. The plant produces many small, upright fruits.

Product features

• Small, pointed fruits (about 1 inch long) that grow pointing upward from the plant
• High heat level (often 50,000–100,000 Scoville units) – use with caution
• Very productive plant, often bearing dozens to hundreds of fruits per season
• Fruits ripen from green to bright red
• Compact, bushy plant (1–2 feet tall), suitable for containers
• Perennial in frost-free climates (USDA zones 9–11), grown as annual elsewhere
• Heat tolerant and thrives in warm, humid conditions

Sowing: Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Sow ¼ inch deep. Space plants 18 inches apart. Full sun required.
Soil & Temperature: Prefers well-draining, fertile soil (pH 6.0–7.0). Germination temperature 75–85°F (24–29°C). Bottom heat strongly improves germination.
Germination Time: 10–20 days.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination and early growth. Once established, water moderately, allowing top inch of soil to dry between waterings. Avoid overwatering.
Additional Tips: Use gloves when handling fruits and seeds. Provide good air circulation to prevent fungal issues. Fertilize lightly when first flowers appear. Harvest when fruits are fully red. Plants can be overwintered indoors in cooler climates.
