Description
Bermuda grass is a warm-season grass that spreads rapidly and forms a dense, durable lawn. It is ideal for sunny, warm climates.
Product features
• Extremely heat and drought tolerant, thriving in hot, sunny conditions
• Spreads rapidly by stolons (above ground) and rhizomes (below ground) to form dense turf
• Very durable with excellent wear tolerance, ideal for sports fields and high-traffic lawns
• Recovers quickly from damage due to aggressive growth
• Dormant and turns brown in winter in cooler areas
• Suitable for lawns, golf courses, parks, and erosion control
• Low water requirements once established
Sowing: Sow in late spring or early summer when soil temperature reaches at least 65°F (18°C). Sow ⅛–¼ inch deep. Broadcast at 1–2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft. Full sun required (tolerates very light shade only).
Soil & Temperature: Prefers well-draining soil (pH 6.0–7.0). Germination temperature 70–85°F (21–29°C).
Germination Time: 10–21 days.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist (light, frequent watering) until seedlings are established. After establishment, water deeply but infrequently (every 5–10 days). Bermuda grass is drought tolerant but stays green longer with occasional water.
Additional Tips: Bermudagrass is invasive in some areas; use edging to contain it away from flower beds. It requires full sun; performs poorly in shade. Mow low (1–2 inches) for best density. Do not overseed with cool-season grasses unless winter color is desired.
